If you are anything like I used to be, your film photography archive is in a bit of chaos. Pages of negative files, boxes full of slides, albums full of prints and maybe even a shoe box or two brimming with unfiled prints; and none of it properly catalogued or easy to find. 

But, even if it is in some sort of order and you don't suffer from anxiety every time you want to find that one special photo to show someone, chances are your photo albums, slide boxes and negative files take up a lot of space and rarely get seen.

By scanning your precious photos and storing them together on one removable computer hard drive, filed according to date or subject, you will always be able to find what you want and share it with family and friends.

It is common that if disaster strikes, like a flood or fire, most people will mourn the loss of their family photos more than the loss of their home. A home can be replaced, but a lifetime of photos can't be. For this reason, we always suggest you have your scanned photos stored on two hard drives, each stored in a different location. This also prevents a disaster if one drive fails or is corrupted.

NB: Due to the limited lifespan of ALL computer storage devices, we recommend that your hard drives be backed up and replaced every five or six years.

Planning a Funeral?

Planning a funeral is a time-consuming and emotionally difficult task. If you are planning on having a slideshow tribute to your deceased loved one, contact Focal Point about fast, efficient, high-quality and affordable scanning.

We can scan from prints, negatives or slides at the same cost. Framed or large prints are also no problem, but may attract slightly higher costs per scan.

Although all our scanning is done to the highest standard, requirements for a slideshow presentation usually mean lower-resolution images. 

For funerals, we will provide scanned images at the appropriate resolution and size for the slideshow at NO ADDITIONAL charge, as well as the high-resolution images for you to keep and share with family and friends.

Turnaround for scanning services is usually a week, but if you have any urgency, such as for a funeral being held in the near future, we can usually provide the scans within a day or two. Again, for funerals, there is no additional charge for this rush service. Call or pop in to discuss your needs.

If you need help putting the presentation together as well, including setting the slideshow to your loved one's favourite music, we can assist with that, again at very affordable rates.
